The Ultimate Sport for the Mind(TM)

FIRST, founded in 1992 by Dean Kamen, stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology". The goal of FIRST is to encourage and inspire students to pursue STEM and to help students develop skills in communication as well as leadership. This organization offers multiple annual competitions, including the FIRST Robotics Competition, in which our robotics team competes.

Each year, a game is released and teams are given six weeks to design, build, and test a robot for this challenge. Once the six-week period, known as build season, is up, teams then compete against other teams in regional and district competitions. In these competitions, two alliances, made up of three robotics teams each, try to score more points in the game than the opposing team. If a team obtains one of the highest ranks in a district or regional competition, they get the chance to go to the World Competition.
